Plagiarism Policy

  • Plagiarism is the dishonest presentation of the work of others as if it were one’s own.
  • Plagiarism can be detected in the following format in many ways:
  1. When one uses the exact written matter quoted by another researcher without giving proper reference in the form of citation or quotation marks.
  2. Direct copying of the material from the internet or any other electronic source without giving a proper citation.
  3. Unjustifiable list of authors without giving contributions from each one.

In case of substituting words with synonyms, credit should be given to its author, or enclosing of the verbatim material in quotation marks should be done.

When paraphrasing and/ or summarizing another's work it must be ensured that the exact meaning of the author’s ideas or facts is reproduced using your own words and sentence structure.

Previously published data can be analyzed using novel techniques not available at the time of publication or a new way to analyze the data using an existing technique. Authors should be fully transparent with their readers by indicating data that has been previously analyzed.

Authors should avoid reusing their own previously published text unless it is done in a manner that alerts readers about the reuse.

When the author describes others' work in short the author must always use his original text to condense and also put contribution in short version of the original.

In case if during the review process, it is observed that the plagiarism content is more, the editor contacts the authors for possible justification and the authors will need to rewrite it. After resubmission of the article, once again the article will go through the complete review process and after positive remarks from reviewers, the final decision will be taken regarding the acceptance.

VIMS Journal of Physical Therapy follows the UGC Guidelines “Prevention of Plagiarism in Higher Educational Institutions ” regulations for 2018. To ensure plagiarism-free research papers during the final publication, all articles are checked with “URKUND” anti-plagiarism software. The plagiarism report is generated which is emailed to the author along with a first review report.

The articles with 10-20% plagiarism are sent back to the author and asked to modify. On the second plagiarism check if it is below 10% then the article is accepted for publication.

VIMSJPT strictly follows journal guidelines stated by Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) issued during the 2nd World Conference on Research Integrity in Singapore in 2010.

Plagiarism check  excludes the following:

  • All quoted work with the necessary permission/attribution.
  • References, Bibliography, table of content, preface, and acknowledgments.
  • The generic terms, laws, standard symbols, and equations.
